When Putaruru teen Fiona Stephen says she loves horses she really means it.
After all, the 19-year-old did spend over eight hours in the saddle to win the recent 2020 Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ) North Island Endurance Championships 120km Youth Rider Class on her first attempt.
Held at the Taupō National Equestrian Centre, Fiona said although it was tough going, she couldn't be more proud of herself and her horse Miro Dusty Trails who she borrowed from friend Ruth Dawber.
"I'd been riding 80km so this was my first time doing 120km and it was incredible," she said...
