FEI Tribunal issues Final Decision in equine anti-doping case
07 January 2022
Author: FEI
The FEI Tribunal has issued its Final Decision in an equine anti-doping case.
The horse Sarem (FEI ID 105MZ22/KSA), ridden by Mohammed Almalky (FEI ID 10134839)/KSA), was selected for an in-competition doping control test at the CEI2* 120 - Al Ula (KSA) on 1 February 2020.
The Athlete was notified of the sample collection of his horse, however disappeared on the way to the testing box. By failing to submit the horse to sample collection, the athlete violated the anti-doping rules.
In its Final Decision, the FEI Tribunal imposed a two-year ineligibility period on the athlete. The Provisional Suspension of the athlete, which came into effect on 19 February 2020, is credited against the period of ineligibility imposed in the decision, meaning the athlete will be ineligible until 18 February 2022. He was also fined CHF 7,500 and asked to pay costs of CHF 2,000. The results obtained at the event have been disqualified.

Baldikova de Becherel, a 10-year-old mare from France ridden by Yasser Abduikareem Al Ameri for Al Hareth Al Badi stables, is shown as eliminated on metabolic grounds at gate two, but “there are unconfirmed reports of this horse having also suffered a catastrophic injury”, an EGB spokesman said...

Artagnan, South of France. The French endurance team has been performing very well in the last championships and heading this team is 45 year old Jean-Michel Grimal.
Who is Jean-Michel Grimal?
“My parents were carpenters, my mother was very keen on horses. When she was pregnant of me, she decided to cover her mare. So I arrived the same year as the first foal in Artagnan breeding. Passionate for horses from my young age I tried to do normal school and horse riding. And for sure I got the passion for horses from her. From childhood I was active with horses testing all what you could do with horses.
It is difficult to speak about myself. I am a farrier, horse breeder and trainer. I consider myself to be a real horse man. So I tried to learn and keep going to learn from experienced horse people in all different disciplines, from the breeding to competition.
At school, I learnt mathematics and marketing and with horses I passed the exam to become farrier...”
