Easy rider - Endurance horse rider vies for spot on national team

Michele Roush describes it as being a "mystical" sort of thing.

And her father, Dale Roush, doesn't deter from that definition of his daughter's fascination with horses. In fact, metaphorically speaking, he says it goes much deeper than that.

"All I can tell you is that when she turned 2 years old, she didn't just get interested in horses, she became a horse," he said, recalling Michele's upbringing in Marin County. "Everything in her life was geared that way from then on. We held her off until she was nine, when we finally got her a pony.

"But before that, she had the stick horse and cowboy outfit. She wore out two stick horses, in fact, before we got her into the pony club."

- 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG)
Following the request from all three candidates for the 2010 WEG, Kentucky
(USA), Basse-Normandie (FRA) and Abu Dhabi/Dubai/Sharjah (UAE), the
Executive Board decided to postpone the deadline for submitting the complete
bids until 15 November 2004. The Board members then specified the basic
conditions for the bids.

The United Emirates Equestrian Federation informed the FEI that the website
for the Dubai Championship will officially be open on 1 November 2004.

Alexandra North seeks sponsorships to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life Project

CARMEL, CA (PRWEB) October 6, 2004 -- The Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life Project (MSQLP), a 501 (c) (3) Not-for-Profit Corporation that serves multiple sclerosis patients in California?s Central Coast region, today announced that local endurance horse rider, multiple sclerosis patient and MSQLP spokeswoman, Alexandra North, will compete in the Fair Hill 100-mile ride in Elkton, Maryland on October 16, 2004. Usually, North competes on her own horse, Butter Bea; however, this time she will be riding a borrowed horse named Benediqtine, owned by Lana Wright, of Maryland. The Fair Hill course is the site for the 2005 North American Endurance Championship that North hopes to attend with Butter Bea next year.

MUNISING - Fifteen-year-old Marlie Birr of Manistique sat near the banks of the Indian River Saturday afternoon, watching quietly while her horse pulled hay from a small bale. Birr was taking a break at a vet check along the 50-mile course of the Pine Marten Run, an endurance and competitive horse event held for seven years now in the Hiawatha National Forest. "A day like this is really nice," Birr said, smiling as she looked up into the sunlight.

UAE: 2004-2005 Season

UAE endurance season from Nov 17

DUBAI ? After a highly successful 2003-2004 endurance season in the UAE, endurance riding will kick-start for the new season in November. The Dubai Endurance City Rides, to be held on November 17 and 18, will herald the new season. The days will feature CEI, three-star 2x80 km ride and also CEI, two-star 120 km ride.

The endurance season, which tentatively has a calendar of 15 rides, will be held in three different venues in the UAE including Emirates International Endurance Village, Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi, Dubai Endurance City, Seih Assalem, Dubai and Bu Deeb Endurance Village, Al Khatem, Abu Dhabi. Apart from these rides, the season also includes seven qualifiers.

The test was successful. 694 days before the beginning of the FEI World Equestrian Games Aachen 2006, the organisers of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV) practised the moment of truth on Saturday.

At 7 a.m., 55 endurance riders from 14 nations climbed the saddle to go on the 90 or 120 kilometres alternatively long and challenging course through three countries. About to 3 p.m., Sheikh Majid Ali Al Kayoum from the United Arabian Emirates dismounted the horse as first again - he decided the short distance for himself. The French Sunny Demedy won over the 120 kilometres - she had to keep up till 4 p.m.
